Unfortunately I am unable to take any new clients at present due to increased demand. As I do not hold a waiting list please look back in a few weeks to find when I have cleared my backlog and am taking bookings for new assessments again.
Welcome! I offer efficient and friendly dyslexia assessments and advice conveniently based in Taunton, Somerset. I provide a professional service to young people in primary and secondary school, students and adults.
At the end of the assessment I will give feedback on my conclusions and then write up a jargon-free report, usually available within one week, which I am happy to discuss with you.
If you live to the east of Taunton or in Dorset and feel that Barton-on-Sea in Hampshire might be within reach, then my daughter-in-law Jenny Bowyer would be pleased to assess you or your child for dyslexia and dyspraxia as she is a fully qualified assessor. Please see her website.
I was anxious about what the assessment would entail but Elaine put me at ease and explained the assessment and the results well so that I now know my strengths and weaknesses. She helped me to understand why I had been struggling for so long and gave useful ideas to help in my weak areas.
I provide the following services for individuals, schools, colleges, businesses and other organisations:
- Initial screening for dyslexia
- Dyslexia assessment test for specific learning difficulties
- Dyspraxia assessments for those aged 16 and over
- Assessments for the Disabled Students Allowance for Higher Education
- Exam access arrangement assessments
- Assessments for an employee prior to applying to Access to Work
I have many years experience working with people with dyslexia. I am a committee member of the Somerset Dyslexia Association and use my experience and knowledge to answer queries at their monthly Drop In session. I am a fully qualified specialist teacher, DBS checked and a member of PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties).

The tests and Elaine’s explanations of my answers gave me a full understanding of my dyslexia. After nearly 3 hours of testing I was so pleased to have my problem properly explained to me.
